Chronicle of the SAGE: MIND YOUR ATTITUDE!

Hardly does a day pass without the word “attitude” entering a conversation. It may be used as a complaint or a compliment. It could mean the difference between a promotion and a demotion, a success and a failure. Sometimes we sense it, at other times we see it. Yet, it is difficult to explain.

We live in a world of words. Attached to these words are meanings that bring various responses from us. Words such as success, achievement, happiness and peace describe what each of us desires. But there is one word that will either heighten the possibility of our desires being fulfilled or prevent them from becoming a reality within us… ATTITUDE!

Believe it or not, the world is like a mirror in the light of attitude. It has a way of reflecting the image of what our attitudes look like. If your attitude towards the people around you is EXCELLENT, you will receive excellent responses. One of the valid ways to test your attitude is to answer this question: “Do you feel your world is treating you well?”

Look around you. Analyze the conversations of the people who live unhappy or unfulfilled lives. You will find out that they are crying out against a society which they feel is out there to get them and give them a lifetime of trouble, pain and bad luck. They have therefore put themselves in the prison of discontent which has been built by their own hands!

Meanwhile, the truth you should know and always keep in mind is that the world doesn’t care whether you free yourself from such prison or not. It simply marches on! The MAJOR person your negative attitude will affect most is not the society but YOU. Therefore, the change cannot come from others. It must come from you.

It is said that the best way to stop a bad habit is to start a good one. In the same vein, the best way to stop negative attitudes is to identify them and develop positive replacements. There are basically two major areas in life, in which we must ensure that we display positive attitude: the way we RELATE with other people and the way we HANDLE our job, work or studies.

To build a good relationship and win a lasting respect, learn to do to others what you want them to do to you. In other words, treat other people the way you want to be treated. Also, to achieve EXCELLENCE and ENDURING FULFILMENT in your career or studies, learn to do your work exceptionally well at all times. Be committed to doing a very good job always. Let your style of working advertise your GREATNESS! Attitude is everything… MIND IT. Cheers!
